Domestic Success: Shepherd's Pie

Today I decided to write down all the random things I cook up in my little kitchen and maybe one day I'll print them all out and give them to you all as a gift... or something.

Yesterday: Shepherd's Pie.
1lb Ground turkey; browned in a deep-ish pot
1 can corn
frozen green peas (about the same amount as the corn)
fresh mushrooms sauteed in a little butter and a lot of garlic
some chopped red ontion sauteed with the mushrooms
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
4 large-ish red potatoes, boiled and mashed (with the skin) with 1Tbs butter and 1/4c. milk
Shreaded Medium cheddar cheese
Grated Parmesean cheese
S&P

After the turkey is cooked through + condensed CofM soup and veggies in the same deep pot. Stir till mixed. Spread the mashed potatoes nice and smooth over the top.

Cover + bake for however long... everything is cooked already so just till it's heated through. I had the oven at about 275 for about an hour.

In the last 5-8 mins, remove the lid, spread the cheddar and sprinkle the parm. Turn to Broil and let the cheese melt and brown. ***Keep an eye on it so you don't burn it!

It turned out really great and is a perfect fall 'one course' dinner.

A Wee Bit of Nesting

Yesterday I got up early and went running. But about 15mins into it I talked myself out of continuing because I had a headache (plus I get bored when I run and I had a project I was looking forward to working on.)

BEHOLD.... the finished project. I had painted a different "painting" on this same canvas but ran out of steam with it so I did something else. (you can see that other painting one post down.)

On Thursday I FINALLY got some frames and put up the two little prints I'd acquired this summer along with two other paintings I did some Sunday morning and a small painting I bought at a San Fran farmers market back in like oh eight. I like my desk!

Here's the cute side of my kitchen. This tiny little space of mine I just love. I can touch the N and S walls at the same time and if I'm sweeping I can stand in one place and get the whole floor. The little butcher block thing came on loan from Joel's house, I took the flower pics a few years ago when I discovered the "EXTREME MICRO" setting on my new camera. That white flower is only as big around as a nickle.

This is the 'functional' end of my kitchen. I need to get an extension cord for that microwave...

Yesterday I got in my car and it smelled like toe jam. I'm not kidding. The culpret: cottage cheese. I'd eaten cottage cheese and pears on the way to work friday morning and didin't take the bowl inside. Oops. Gross.

I bought a new pillow on an impulse on Saturday from Modernthread The charcoal and white chevron one. It will perfectly match the fabric I'm using to cover my new old chairs. You'll have to be patient to see the change for the chairs... it's gonna take a while before I do it. The sofa I have needs to be slip covered too so nevermind the flowery floral blah.

Happy Labor Day...
